Communicating Effectively in a Presentation

I have designed many effective PowerPoint presentations. They are famous for many reasons. I will let you in on one of my development secrets. Early in the development of the presentation I visualize how many people will be viewing it?...How big the room will be?...How far away from the screen will the furthest person be?...and How close will the projector be to the screen? Then I set up a room that way and figure out what the smallest font size can be that can be seen from the last row? Then as I develop the presentation I make sure that no text is smaller than that minimum size. Why do I do this? because presenting is only half of communicating...the other half is receiving the messages. I want to make sure that my messages are received. I am sure you have been in the audience of a presentation...when a slide is shown that has text or numbers on it that can not be read by most of the audience. This is the biggest contributor to the bad reputation that PowerPoint has...sometimes called "death by PowerPoint". There is a lot of other things that go into developing an effective presentation...but one of the (often over looked) keys is making it clearly visible to all the observers. Excellent Selling!
